Girvan Tourist Information Point gets a makeover!

Girvan Tourist Information Point has had a bit of a glow-up, thanks to the Girvan Community Led Tourism team and the Girvan Town Team. Currently open every day from 11am to 3pm, this is a vital part of our tourist offerings in Girvan.

Run solely by a team of dedicated volunteers, the Tourist Information Point can now be found in the Old Court Room of the Town House, at 25 Knockcushan Street (opposite the RNLI Station). Follow the colourful flags up the ramp to the left of the building and you’ll find yourself in the bright and airy room warmly welcomed by the volunteers!

You’ll spot a brand new reception desk (above) complete with information, artwork and lovely plants to welcome you into the room. We’ve also added a children’s activity corner (below) to keep the kids occupied while the rest of the visitors can peruse the brochure selection, or even have a browse in our new little shop!

.

The shop area is still under development, but will stock TIP and Go Girvan merchandise (such as these lovely reusable Bamboo cups), as well as providing an outlet for local crafters and artisans to sell their wares. If you’re interested in selling your stuff at the shop, be sure to get in touch with the TIP team: [email protected].

Our new information area contains all the up-to-date information visitors need for their stay (and if they can’t find it there, be sure to ask our friendly and very knowledgeable volunteers, or check the Go Girvan website on the tablet situated next to the reception desk!)

.

Finally, once they’ve had a chance to take it all in, visitors are welcome to rest their feet in our rest area. Some of the tables and chairs are on a small step up, but we’ve made sure there is seating available on the ground level so this space is accessible to all.

So, pop round, have a chat with our team, and enjoy the view out over Knockcushan gardens while you take it all in. Thanks to the Girvan Community Led Tourism group, Girvan Town Team and Falck Assel Valley Windfarm Community Fund for making this makeover so successful!

Unfortunately, the Tourist Information Point is now now closed, but will re-open on the 1st April 2024.
