Set in July 2003, the story centres on three youngsters on holiday in South Ayrshire on the West coast of Scotland, who stumble across a possible drug smuggling network. It involves an old local legend about a bricked up cave, a bogus cut-flower business run by the mysterious owner of a country estate and a yacht.
The audiobook reflects the era of the halcyon days of the “Costa del Clyde” when holidaymakers flocked to the Clyde coast to go “doon the watter” during their respective Fairs (fortnight holiday). This area of Scotland has long been associated with the smuggling of contraband as far back as the time of Mary Queen of Scots who is documented as having been a regular visitor to Ardmillan House.
